Industry Leaders Join NetWitness to Develop, Market and Sell Next-Generation Investigative and Forensics Security Technology

HERNDON, Va. -- NetWitness Corporation, the leading provider of technology solutions focused on identification, investigation, and analysis of complex network and insider threats, today announced the appointments of four veteran information security professionals to its executive management team. The new hires include, Tim Belcher, Chief Technology Officer; Jim Charlton, Vice President of Sales; Don Gilberg as Vice President of Strategic Development; and Eddie Schwartz, Chief Security Officer.

To support this technology innovation and corporate growth the company has added the following executives:

  • Tim Belcher, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) - Belcher is responsible for the company's overall product vision, development and technology roadmap. Previously, Belcher co-founded Riptech where he served as CTO. At Riptech, Belcher was the visionary behind Caltarian, the award-winning and breakthrough security event correlation technology that was the foundation for Riptech's security monitoring services. Ernst & Young recognized Belcher for his success with the "Entrepreneur of the Year" award in 2001.
  • Jim Charlton, Vice President of Sales - Charlton is responsible for leading both national and international sales efforts, including channel and business partner relationships. He brings over 25 years of sales and management experience, successfully building outstanding field sales organizations resulting in dramatic growth. Prior to this role, Charlton spent ten years at Sun Microsystems in various sales management roles, then joined Raptor Systems in 1994 (IPO in 1996 and acquisition by Axent in 1999.) Charlton joined Riptech in 2001 as Vice President of Worldwide Sales (acquired by Symantec in 2002.)
  • Don Gilberg, Vice President of Strategic Development - Gilberg is responsible for developing strategic relationships with public and private organizations critical to the company's overall growth. He previously served as Managing Director of Security Accelerator LLC, a strategic advisory firm serving the homeland security markets. Gilberg is the former Senior Director of CivitasGroup and an expert on insurance, risk assessment and mitigation, product liability, corporate intelligence and fraud investigations. Gilberg serves on the Board of Directors of Digital Sandbox and the Board of Advisors of Prepared Response, Inc.
  • Eddie Schwartz, Chief Security Officer - Schwartz is a nationally known expert in the fields of information security and data privacy, and is responsible for the alignment of the NetWitness product strategy with the evolving operational threat management needs of government and commercial organizations. Prior to joining NetWitness, Schwartz served as CTO of ManTech Security Technologies Corp, Chief Operating Officer of Guardent Inc, (acquired by Verisign), and EVP of Operations for Predictive Systems (acquired by INS). Schwartz also worked as Chief Information Security Officer at Nationwide Insurance, as a Senior Computer Scientist for CSC, and a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State.
